People shopping for a new vehicle often try to find cars with the best gas mileage. If great fuel economy is important to you, here are the Buick and GMC models you’ll want to look at.

Buick Encore

The Buick Encore is a subcompact SUV that comes with a 155-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. It offers 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway, which are very solid numbers for the class.

Buick Encore GX

Another subcompact SUV, the Buick Encore GX comes with turbocharged 1.2-liter, three-cylinder that produces 137 horsepower. There is also a 155-horsepower, turbocharged version that’s available as an upgrade.

A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The base Buick Encore GX will give you 29 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.

Buick Envision

The Buick Envision comes with a 228-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. For the luxury compact SUV class, it has fantastic fuel economy: 24 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.

GMC Terrain

With the GMC Terrain, you’ll get a turbocharged 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 170 horsepower. A nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive come standard. This compact SUV gets 25 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

GMC Acadia

This midsize SUV comes with a 228-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. The other engine option in the GMC Acadia is a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6.

A nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. The base engine will give you 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

GMC Yukon

The GMC Yukon is a large SUV that has a 5.3-liter V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower. There is also a 277-horsepower, turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel configuration and a 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8. A 10-speed automatic transmission comes standard, as does rear-wheel drive. If you go with the diesel engine and rear-wheel drive, you’ll get 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.
