Buick Service 101: Changing a Tire
What would you do if your car suddenly experienced a flat tire? Would you have to call the auto club or perhaps a friend or family member to come help? Many people don’t realize that changing a tire is actually pretty easy. Here our Buick service goes over the steps to take:
Step 1: Find What You Need
There are just three essentials for changing a flat: a jack, lug wrench, and spare tire. If you have all of those, you are already doing well.
Step 2: Loosen the Lug Nuts
Next, you need to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire without removing them completely.
Step 3: Jack the Car
Now, put the jack under a firm part of the car’s frame and turn the handle clockwise to lift it up several inches.
Step 4: Take Off the Flat
Next, remove the lug nuts and take off the tire. Then you’ll want to line the spare up with the holes and put the lug nuts on again.
Step 5: Put the Car Down
The last step is to turn the jack counterclockwise to lower the car. Then make sure the lug nuts are very tight.
That’s it. Seems pretty simple, right? There is, however, another step you don’t want to forget about: getting a new tire. You just never know when you’ll have to change another tire, so it’s very important to always have a spare. And if your spare is one of those little donuts, you have to replace it quickly, as they aren’t meant to be driven on for very long.
If you just realized that your car doesn’t have a spare, get in touch with the parts department at Joseph Buick GMC near Florence. We’ll make sure you are never left in the lurch.
