If you’re thinking about buying a vehicle, you probably want it to get good gas mileage. This is why many people decide to go with a new GMC car. This guide goes over the MPG these new vehicles have to offer.

GMC Terrain

The GMC Terrain comes with a 170-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, and front-wheel drive. This model gets 25 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway, which are very good numbers for the compact SUV class. All-wheel drive drops the highway MPG to 28.

GMC Acadia

The base engine in the GMC Acadia is a 228-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder unit. There is also a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower. This SUV also has good gas mileage for its class: 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

GMC Canyon

The GMC Canyon has a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. You could also go with either a 3.6-liter V6 with 308 horsepower or a turbodiesel 2.8-liter, four-cylinder with 181 horsepower. The base engine offers 19 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway. The turbodiesel takes that to 20/30 MPG city/highway.

GMC Sierra 1500

The GMC Sierra 1500 comes with a 310-horsepower turbocharged 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine. There are three other engines to pick from:

  • 5.3-liter V8: 355 horsepower
  • 6.2-liter V8: 420 horsepower
  • 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder: 277 horsepower

The base model offers 16 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. These best MPG comes from the diesel engine with rear-wheel drive: 23 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.
